Day three time for a freeroll….

Posted in Poker on February 7, 2009 by 7deuce

So, in the last few days I’ve had my ups and downs, had some stupid beats and made some stupid calls to knock my self down to just over even.

But today is a new day, won some on the cash table and took second in a sit and go, in about 30 min its time for my first freeroll on the site.

For those of you who have not played on Golden Arch its a pretty good site, I like the option to play four games in one window (although I need a bigger screen) and the fact that it tells you what you have so if your playing multiple tables it cuts down on your reaction time.

Sponsorship on Golden Arch Poker

Posted in Poker with tags , , , on February 3, 2009 by 7deuce

Well, as of today, 2/2/09 , I have been sponsered on Golden Arch Poker, they have deposited money in my account and according to the terms and agreements I am required to play at least to tables at a time and for a total of 20 hours a week during my evaluation period and I can keep any profit I make….

I almost sounds too good to be true, but when you add in the chance to be sponsored in Live Televised tournaments it sounds like a chance worth taking.

I will start playing there tomorrow and keep you updated on the progress…

A couple playing poker…..

Posted in Poker with tags , , , on September 16, 2008 by 7deuce

Two couples were playing cards one evening. John accidentally dropped some cards on the floor. When he bent down under the table to pick them up, he noticed that Bill’s wife Sue, legs spread wide, wasn’t wearing any underwear! Shocked by this, John upon trying to sit back up again, hit his head on the table and emerged red-faced.

Later, John went to the kitchen to get some refreshments. Bill’s wife followed and asked, “Did you see anything that you liked under there?” Surprised by her boldness, John courageously admitted that, well, indeed he did.

She said, “Well, you can have it but it will cost you $500.” After taking a minute or two to assess the financial as well as the moral costs of this offer, John indicates that he is indeed interested. She tells him that since her husband, Bill, works Friday afternoons and John doesn’t, that John should be at her house around 2.00 Friday afternoon.

When Friday rolled around, John showed up at Bill’s house for the planned time with Sue at 2:00 PM sharp and after paying her the agreed sum of $500, they went to the bedroom and closed their sexual transaction as Sue had promised.
Afterwards, John quickly dressed and left. As usual, Bill came home from work at 6:00 PM and upon entering the house, asked his wife abruptly, “Did John come by the house this afternoon?”

A little worried, Bill’s wife answered, “Why yes, he did stop by for a few minutes this afternoon.”

Her heart nearly stopped when her husband curtly asked,” And did he give you $500?”

In terror, she assumed that somehow he had found out, and after mustering up her best poker face, replied, “Well, yes, in fact he did give me $500.”

Bill, with a satisfied look on his face, surprised his wife by saying, “Good, I was hoping he did. John came by the office this morning and borrowed $500 from me. He promised me he’d stop by our house this afternoon on his way home and pay me back.”

My Money Finally arrived….

Posted in Poker with tags , , , , on September 9, 2008 by 7deuce

It took a while, but the withdrawal I requested from Full Tilt had arrived. I had to open an account with Ultra Prepaid (a phone card company) and then make a deposit onto Full Tilt. I then had to wait two weeks after I opened the account before I was allowed to make a withdrawal.

I made my first request on Aug 29th and received my money by bank wire on Sept 8th. The did however charge me $20 for the wire and then I also have to pay the bank their fee as well. Hopefully soon they will be able to do the same ACH transfers that the poker sites were using before, but in the mean time, It works.

I beg all of you to get involved and tell your Congressmen and Senators that Poker is not a crime and to pass intelligent legislation on the matter. Just think of all the money the country is loosing by not regulating the gaming here.

Well… Bank Transfer is now gone…

Posted in Poker with tags , , , on September 7, 2008 by 7deuce

I just checked Full Tilt today and now it seems that the Bank Transfer option for US players has been removed all together. For now, my only options are Bank Check (and the Forums are full of people talking about how they have been waiting 4-6 weeks for a check that wont go through) or Ultra Prepaid. I requested a Bank Wire from Ultra Prepaid on the 29th and have not received it yet, but then again they said it would take up to 15 days. I did notice that for at least 5-6 days I had the option to cancel the wire, which I suppose means that I was in que to have it done manually and could have canceled it. Let’s see how long it takes.

Still waiting for my money from Full Tilt

Posted in Poker with tags , , , , on September 3, 2008 by 7deuce

All right then, its been over three weeks since I started trying to get money out of my Full Tilt account. As of today, you still can not use the bank transfer option, so I signed up for an account with Ultra Prepaid. I had to wait two weeks before I was allowed to do a withdrawal on Ultra (and this is after you have to make a deposit to Full Tilt to tie your accounts together). So on August 29th I made my first withdrawal request.

Ultra seems to be having he same problems with Bank Transfers that Full Tilt and Poker Stars are having so, the only option for a withdrawal is a Bank Wire. They usually charge $45 for this, but right now they are waiving that fee. What gets me is they say it could take up to 15 days for the transfer to go through. My question is: “Why so long? What are you doing with my money in the mean time?” A wire transfer should take only minutes, hence the high fees.

I’ll keep you up to date on when (or if) I recieve my money, but in the mean time, keep telling the politicions that you want Online Poker made legal so we can stop with all the hassles.

Problems getting paid from Full Tilt and Poker Stars

Posted in Poker, Politics with tags , , , , , on August 20, 2008 by 7deuce

As I’m sure most of you American Players have found out recently, Full Tilt and Poker Stars (and I’m sure other sites as well) are having major difficulty paying their US players.  I am hearing stories of players waiting 6-8 weeks to get a check from Full Tilt then finding out the account was closed and the check is no good.  I also know people who are still waiting for E-checks requested in May.  As of today neither Full Tilt or Poker Stars are even accepting requests for E-Checks.

Now, I hear a lot of grumbling that its a scam and that the sites are in financial trouble and trying to stall paying the players.  I seriously doubt even if they were in trouble, they would alienate their best players just to earn some interest on the accounts.  In the world of online poker, being seen as fair and supportive of your players is the only way to stay ahead.

Now with that said, I have done some checking and it seems that the biggest problems have to do with the poker rooms choice of banks.  Most of the sites we all use are sending money to US bank accounts to pay off their US players.  This is causing trouble because of the USIGEA, which made it illegal for US banks to process online gaming transactions.  Now of course there is not an actual law that forbids online poker or online gaming, the Wire Act was written for Sports Betting.

If your having trouble getting your money from your chosen poker site, stop just whining about, and get out there and tell your congressman that this has to change.  The first thing you can do is visit The Poker Players Alliance and send and email to your congressman, and then get involved.  Once our voices are heard, the Government will realize that Prohibition will not work and lawful regulation is the best choice.

The 7 Stages of Ace King

Posted in Poker with tags , , , on July 19, 2008 by 7deuce

Psychologists often refer to the 7 stages of grief that accompany any significant loss in an individual’s life. We certainly think AK qualifies, and know the stages all too well:

1) Denial: “There’s no way I could’ve missed the flop. They were suited. I can call here, I probably still have the best hand. Shoot, I should raise to narrow the field”

2) Anger: “I raised preflop. The board is 239. What the fuck are they calling on? Oh, now they’re re-raising me? Well, we’ll fucking see about that. Fine, your 23o hit? Congrat-u-fucking-lations. Cap!”

3) Guilt: “Man, I missed the turn and they’re still betting into me. I am such a terrible player. I should really let go of this hand. Let go if it, dumbass. Let go. See, this is why you never make money at poker because you can’t lay a hand down you stupid fuck JUST FOLD.”

4) Depression: “Call”

5) Forgiveness: “It’s ok, you have to look that guy up every once in a while with A high. He might’ve been on AQ or AJ, and you would’ve had the best hand then. It’s good for your table image anyhow. People won’t mess with you now.

6) Acceptance: “Ok, next time I’ll just limp and see a flop.”

7) Recovery: “Hey, AKs, alright – RAISE!”

Why do we chase those pocket pairs….

Posted in Poker with tags , , , on July 16, 2008 by 7deuce

I have to ask myself, why is it so damn hard to get rid of a player with a pocket pair. It has happened to me several times today. I am against someone who is holding a pocket pair (say 77) the flop comes all over cards, I put a bet out there and get a call. The turn is another over card, I bet he calls. Then the one that pisses me off the most, the river comes a 7 and gives him trips. Now mind you more often than not, I will win the hand because the trips never comes, but I get confused about the logic.

Can someone please tell me why people hold on to that pocket pair so long?
